About this property

Rustic Luxury Cabin with Waterfalls

Named for the multi-level splashing waterfalls flowing alongside, Rockwater Cabin is a secluded, rustic 20-acre mountaintop dream home for those outdoor enthusiasts who prefer a healthy touch of private luxury.

Enjoy a 2.5 mile winding gravel mountain road to discover true wilderness, but with the creature comforts of a three-level authentic log construction home. Modern kitchen, satellite TV, wired phone line, and wifi. No street out back, no neighbors on either side. Only mountains out front, in the heart of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

In the winter, warm your toes at the natural log burning, river rock fireplace and a generous bookshelf of classic literature and travel books. In the summer, enjoy the 4-burner outdoor grill and the close proximity to Springer Mountain, southern end of the acclaimed Appalachian Trial. A 15-minute drive takes you to the perfect 1-mile hiking trail to the top of Springer. 15 minutes in the other direction takes you to Amicalola Falls State Park, featuring the highest waterfalls in Georgia.

The area offers fly-fishing, horseback riding, hiking, wineries and antique shopping in nearby historic Ellijay and Blue Ridge. During your stay, enjoy the serenity of no freeways, no airplanes, no signs, buildings or even TV towers to obstruct your view of the ancient Appalachian Mountains from the wrap-around deck. At night, you’ll look out on pitch black darkness for miles, with only moon and stars above, and the rush of the waterfalls in the woods below.

To comfortably accommodate all members of your party, Rockwater sleeps up to six with 2 bedrooms, 4 beds. The master bedroom is found on the top level and features a plush, king sized bed, along with a 40” led tv, private bath with 2 sinks and a shower/bath tub combination. The master also features a pull out sofa, full-bed size. The other bedroom is downstairs on the terrace level with Queen bed, day bed with pull out trundle bed, TV, private bath with shower and washer/dryer.

Preparing meals is easy with new KitchenAide appliances. The dining table under the all natural deer antler chandelier seats 8. BTW, 40 min. drive each way for groceries.

For the drive up, it's bumpy but well maintained - all the roads are well marked. In icy or very wet conditions, a 4-wheel drive type vehicle is recommended.

Great place to get away
This cabin is great. It’s comfortable, well stocked, and the view is incredible. We really liked how remote it is too.

Great place to get away!
If you are just looking to get away from everything this is a great place to do it. Very quiet, private, and secluded! The property is absolutely amazing! The cabin itself is a bit dated however it is nice and you have everything there that you need. You do travel some distance off of paved roads, but the property in my opinion is well worth the drive in.

The View
The view was spectacular, we caught the leaf color at this cabin at its peak. The cabin was cozy and had everything needed for cooking in the large kitchen. The picture window was perfect during wet and windy weather when we could not sit out on the deck. The leaves were deep and we were not able to walk down to the water fall but had no problem being able to hear the sounds of the falls. The only negative was the path from the vehicle to the house. It’s a stone and dirt path and this time of the year leaf covered I wound advise anyone that has problems with walking to be aware of the path. We loved the privacy and the roads to hike there at the cabin.

Beautiful Water Falls
Remote cabin with beautiful amazing views of mountains, and the sound of the waterfalls that are on the property next to the cabin. Nicely furnished inside and very comfortable. Our dogs loved exploring the woods and going in the creeks! Would give it a five star except for the path to the deck and kitchen that need a little TLC.

We are from Atlanta. Graduated/attended various schools: Duke, Emory, NYU, FSU, Lawrenceville School. We enjoy the retreat of this cabin in the national forest for family time together and solitude. Peaceful, great for reading and hiking. We have a yellow lab - Winston - that runs and swims all day long. We are building an extensive tree house with our sons who love the woods and making fires and mountain biking.
